Hi! I’m Michelle.

But my favorite people call me “mama.”

Those would be my four kiddos, whose feeding triumphs and challenges inspired my career in lactation. Little did I know, 9+ years ago and pregnant for the first time, that feeding these awesome weirdos would turn me into a human puddle one minute and make me feel like a superhero the next. She latched! The pain! He gained weight! Is my milk really enough? What felt like eternity attached to a breast pump like a dang dairy cow. IYKYK.

But when it worked, everything felt right in my little world.

Cut to the spring of 2020... I was 6 months into exclusively breastfeeding my third child (subtext - bottle refusal is NOT cool) and had abruptly become a homeschool kindergarten and preschool teacher (not by choice, ahem), yet somehow I decided it was the exact right time to start working toward an IBCLC title (which stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). And, friends, if that isn’t the BEST decision I’ve ever made (besides the hubs and I trying our hand at parenting, of course)! Since then, I have been honored to help hundreds of families across the nation on their unique feeding journeys. From Seattle to Boston, individually and in groups, virtually and IRL.

And I’d love to be a part of your family’s story too!

Lactation Nation was born from the desire to demystify infant feeding, because I’ve been exactly where you are. The confusion & anxiety around feeding your new baby can be isolating and all consuming.

Parents weren’t meant to do this thing alone. So don’t!

In the chaos & beauty of early parenthood, I was inspired to extend my hand to uplift other weary parents. Let’s navigate the feeding piece together, so you can focus on enjoying your little one.

At Lactation Nation…

  • I think you’re amazing, however you feed your baby!

  • Your goals are my goals.

  • I promote informed decision making and parental empowerment.

  • Pumping IS breastfeeding!

  • Oral ties ARE a thing and I wish they could resolve themselves. But they don’t. Let’s discuss!

  • I hope that one day every birth & subsequent well-visit through the first year is accompanied by feeding support!

  • ALL families can receive infant feeding support from me regardless of race, religion, age, gender identity, financial status, or ability.

  • I believe you can do hard things, but breastfeeding doesn’t have to be one of them.

  • “I reached out to Michelle when my daughter was having difficulty latching. Michelle was prompt in getting back to me and scheduling an appointment. Most importantly though, I felt comfortable with her. Her patience and compassion were so appreciated. She also always made sure to highlight the even (smallest) wins with baby! I truly enjoyed working with her and highly recommend her.”

  • “Michelle was wonderful. She came even on NYE, when I for sure expected an appointment after the holiday. I felt like my specific situation was addressed and she shared wonderful tips and info. She was so professional, but also incredibly personable. I’m so grateful for her help.”

  • "Michelle is so wonderful, kind and compassionate. I was ready to give up on breastfeeding and she gave me so much knowledge and support. Most of all she supported me and encouraged me when I was feeling down and vulnerable. I could never thank her enough!"

    - Nardin

  • "Michelle has been an amazing help! From our first email and text correspondences, I knew I was in good hands. She has gone out of her way to really help me and my baby. I am so happy that I found her!"

    - Danielle

  • "Michelle was so kind and encouraging. I felt my baby and I were both in really good hands. She listened and observed with no judgment. She had a wealth of knowledge and I really felt I learned so much. I walked away far more confident in how to better nurse my baby and relieved to have someone to reach out to with any questions or concerns."
